An original EP released by composer-performers Ido Akov and Talya Eliav (name inspired by Jennifer Walshe's Language Ruins Everything) . A daring and unique collaboration musicians of different worlds. Talya Eliav comes from the core of the Israeli indie scene, and Ido Akov is a prodigious classical pianist. Both composer-performers meet in a compositional-textual space for a joyful, creative experiment in performance- one with elements of theatricality, humor, speech and wild musicianship.
Ido Akov's piece 'Sixa' (a conversation) is a collection of miniatures for voice(s) and accordion, set to an original text inspired the book Sixa by poet and anthropologist Zali Gurevitch. Ido deconstructs his text to words and shards of sentences bearing folk-ish colors and rhythms, giving the whole a sense of looseness in line with cabaret.
Talya Eliav's piece “White Keys" is a heartful vocalise, tracing the lines of Talya's own vocal register. Radical gestures appear alongside lyrical, heartfelt passages to create a magical, evocative atmosphere.
The EP was recorded in the Jerusalem Music Centre in a space rich with natural reverberation. Produced by musician Shai Lowenstein, and with consultation by sound engineer Tzvika Hirschler, the sound production in the EP combines a classical style with contemporary nuances to complete this project's bold approach.
