In the work, Shai and Talya collected temporary musical instruments and placed them on sections of the urban street fences spread out on Heshmonaim street in Haifa, the city they live in.
The elements range from organic to industrial materials, creating a changing dynamic range. They are moved by the wind, creating random percussive music independently – A musical representation of the weather changes all together with inviting passers-by to touch and play them.
The sounds connect to the variety of sounds around: birds chirping, rustling of leaves, vehicles and more. The work can be seen as a continuation of Talya’s work Hakshivu (Listen) artistic-community work at the Haifa Museum, in which she explored the urban sound space together with a group of residents from Bat Galim neighborhood.
Musicians Talya Eliav (1985) and Shai Lowenstein (1975) have been collaborating since 2007 with the project – Lonely Sound – a studio album based on interpretations of familiar pieces of music and free improvisation. Later they co-produced Talya's four studio albums. The latter came out in 2017 and was dedicated to the translation and performance of songs by French singer Barbara. Over the years, they have collaborated together and separately with artists from various fields, including Shimon Adaf, Haim Rahmani, Oded Zehavi, Liron Brecht, Ido Akov and many more.
